Welcome to Uppi. These Terms of Use govern access to and use of our platform by consumers and home service tradies. Please read them carefully before creating an account or using our services.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, accessing or using the Uppi platform (mobile app or the uppiapp.com.br website), you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our platform.
Uppi reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated with reasonable advance notice by email or in-app notification.
2. Description of Service
Uppi is an intermediary platform that connects consumers who need home services with self-employed tradespeople and service businesses ("Tradies").
Uppi acts solely as an intermediary. We are not the employer of any Tradie, we do not provide the services directly, and we do not guarantee the quality, safety or lawfulness of services arranged between the parties.
Uppi does not process or hold payments between consumers and Tradies. Financial arrangements for services are made directly between the parties, outside the platform.
Our services include:
• Posting and searching for service requests
• A quoting system between consumers and Tradies
• Credit wallet management for Tradies
• User reviews and reputation
• Notifications on the progress of requests
3. Registration and Account
To use Uppi, you must:
• Be at least 18 years old
• Provide truthful, accurate and up-to-date information when registering
• Keep your password confidential and not share it with third parties
• Notify Uppi immediately if your account is used without authorisation
You are responsible for all activity on your account. Uppi is not liable for losses arising from unauthorised use of your account where this is caused by your own negligence.
Tradies must provide a valid New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) or IRD number where applicable, and are responsible for keeping their tax and regulatory information up to date.
4. User Obligations
By using Uppi, you agree not to:
• Provide false or misleading information
• Use the platform for unlawful or fraudulent purposes
• Harass, threaten or discriminate against other users
• Post offensive or defamatory content, or content that infringes the rights of others
• Attempt to defraud or manipulate the platform's credit system
• Create multiple accounts to manipulate reviews or the reputation system
• Use bots, scrapers or other automated means to access the platform
• Use other users' information obtained through the platform for purposes unrelated to the contracted service
Breach of these obligations may result in suspension or permanent removal of your account.
5. Credits and Tradie Wallet
Uppi operates a credit system intended solely for Tradies registered on the platform. Uppi does not process payments between consumers and Tradies.
Tradie Credit Wallet:
• Tradies can top up their credit wallet on the platform using the available payment methods (credit card, debit card or other supported options), processed by our certified payment partner
• Credits are used to access platform features, such as sending quotes and gaining visibility on service requests
• Credit balances are non-refundable except as set out in these Terms
• Credit package prices are available in the app and may be adjusted with 30 days' prior notice
Payment for Services:
• Amounts payable for services are agreed and managed directly between the consumer and the Tradie, outside the Uppi platform
• Uppi is not a party to the service agreement and does not process, hold or intermediate any funds between the parties
6. Cancellations and Credits
Cancelling requests:
• Consumers may cancel a request before a Tradie accepts a quote, at no cost on the platform
• Uppi is not responsible for arrangements or amounts negotiated directly between consumers and Tradies
Cancellations by Tradies:
• Recurring cancellations may negatively affect a Tradie's reputation on the platform
Tradie Wallet Credits:
• Where a verified technical issue prevents the use of purchased credits, the Tradie may request a review from Uppi support
• Credit balances are not refundable in cash except where required by law or at Uppi's sole discretion
Uppi is not a party to service agreements between consumers and Tradies and is not responsible for disputes relating to the quality or performance of services.
7. Reviews and Reputation
Uppi's review system is intended to promote transparency and trust on the platform.
• Reviews must reflect a genuine experience with the contracted service
• Manipulating reviews, including through arrangements between users, is prohibited
• Uppi may remove reviews that breach these guidelines
• Reviews published in good faith cannot be the basis of legal action against Uppi
8. Limitation of Liability
Uppi is not responsible for:
• The quality, safety or outcome of services provided by Tradies
• Property damage or personal injury occurring during the provision of a service
• The conduct of users on or off the platform
• Temporary service interruptions due to maintenance or technical failures
• Losses arising from unauthorised use of an account due to user error
To the maximum extent permitted by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986, our liability, where applicable, is limited to the value of credits purchased by the Tradie in the specific transaction that gave rise to the loss.
9. Intellectual Property
All content on the Uppi platform — including our brand, logo, design, source code, text and features — is the exclusive property of Uppi and is protected by New Zealand intellectual property law.
By posting content on the platform (photos of jobs, descriptions, reviews), you grant Uppi a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce and display that content solely in connection with the platform's services.
Unauthorised reproduction, distribution or commercial use of any element of the platform is prohibited.
10. Termination
You may close your account at any time through the app or by contacting support.
Uppi may suspend or terminate your account, at its sole discretion, if:
• You breach these Terms of Use
• There is fraudulent activity or suspected fraud
• Your use poses a risk to the platform or other users
• Required by law or a regulatory authority
Termination of your account does not remove outstanding obligations relating to transactions already in progress.
11. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from these Terms are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
For consumer dispute resolution, you may also contact the Disputes Tribunal of New Zealand or the Commerce Commission.
